Volt Active Data Extends Open Source Capabilities for Development of Real-Time Applications
Expanded open source offerings empower developers to more quickly deliver applications built on the Volt Active Data data platform
BEDFORD, Mass. – Oct. 24, 2017 – Volt Active Data, the enterprise-class translytical database that powers business-critical applications, today announced it is expanding its open source licensing to enable developers to rapidly build, test and deploy real-time applications with the Volt Active Data data platform. Developers can now access the power of the Volt Active Data platform with no additional fees, reducing the cost of application development and accelerating the testing and deployment of more advanced database capabilities in production environments.
When choosing technology for their environments, enterprises are increasingly going with an open source first and only policy. Volt Active Data continues to embrace this trend by making its open source version more feature rich while continuing to offer a fully featured Enterprise edition. Volt Active Data’s enhanced open source capabilities enable developers to accelerate the development life cycle, more quickly innovating with real-time applications that deliver data-driven insights and actions for maximizing business performance and operations.
“PICC’s challenge was selecting a massively scalable event processing system that combined understanding and decisions at super low latency. We found that, unlike other commercial vendors, Volt Active Data’s open source version was fully feature rich and something we could build and run production applications on,” said Yu Hao, Technology Architect at PICC. “Volt Active Data is the key to our solution and enables PICC to process exceptionally large data streams and make decisions in real-time”.
Volt Active Data Open Source Capabilities Accelerate Digital Transformation
Volt Active Data is committed to empowering developers to test the industry’s fastest in-memory, translytical database that can ingest, analyze and act on massive data streams and power real-time decision making, all in a fully open source environment. Volt Active Data’s enhanced open source features include:
- Real-time snapshots to ensure no data is lost during development and testing;
- Advanced clustering technology enabling multiple data copies;
- Exporters to take data out and into another analytical database;
- Manual scale-out on commodity servers; and
- Volt Active Data Management Console
“Companies like Volt Active Data are at the forefront of modernizing how we approach real-time data,” said Tamer Hassan, chief technology officer at White Ops. “We process billions of web requests a day in real time on a relatively small cluster with Volt Active Data. Capabilities like this didn’t used to exist, and these technologies are important for building the next generation of data platforms. It’s important for technology decision makers to embrace and understand these capabilities.”
“Every organization has a different set of priorities when it comes to technology implementation, and we recognize that we need to be flexible in order to align with those needs,” said Madhup Mishra, Head of Products at Volt Active Data. “As we’re seeing greater interest in Volt Active Data, we are lowering the barriers to entry and putting the power back in the hands of developers by extending our open source licenses to enable faster development, testing and deployment.”
Volt Active Data’s enhanced open source offerings are now available. Volt Active Data will host a one-hour Quick Start Tutorial webinar on Friday, October 27 at 11:00 AM, eastern standard time, to provide instructions for how to download, install and start using Volt Active Data. About Volt Active Data
Volt Active Data provides the only in-memory translytical database for applications that require an unprecedented combination of data scale, volume, and accuracy. Unlike other databases, including OLTP, Big Data, and NoSQL, only Volt Active Data supports all three modern application data requirements: Volt Active Data processes data points from millions of users and sources; ingests, analyzes, and acts on data in milliseconds; and data managed by Volt Active Data is accurate all the time, for all decisions. Telecommunications, financial services, advertising, gaming and other industries rely on Volt Active Data to modernize their applications. Volt Active Data was founded by a team of world-class database experts, including Dr. Michael Stonebraker, winner of the coveted ACM Turing award.
