About Volt Active Data
Volt’s mission is to enable companies to address the hardest real-time data processing challenge of our time: having scale, speed, consistency, and resiliency — all at once.
At Volt, we believe there’s a better way to do data — a more valuable, less costly way, where companies with mission-critical applications don’t need to sacrifice scale, accuracy, reliability, or any of the oft-quoted data challenges in order to have great performance.
We believe you can have it all, and we’re obsessed with making that a reality. We’re always excited to see our customers readily accessing the data they need at the precise moment they need it for mission-critical decision-making.
Volt Explained in 2 Minutes
Precise decisions made in under 10 milliseconds can directly influence in-the-moment monetization, prevent digital fraud, maximize value from AI/ML investments, avoid costly downtime, and much more.
History
Designed by 2014 Turing Award winner Dr. Michael Stonebraker, Volt was built to be the real-time data processing solution of the 21st century, a ground-up redesign of the relational database for today’s convergence of 5G, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced data analytics.
Dr. Stonebraker has researched database technologies for more than 40 years, leading to numerous innovations in fast data, streaming data, and in-memory databases. In addition to Volr, he also founded Ingres, Postgres, Streambase, Vertica, and Tamr.
With Volt, he realized the full potential of tapping streaming data with in-memory transactional database technology that can handle 5G speed and volume while delivering real-time decision-making.
Why Volt
Volt is:
- Speedy: We’ve proven that we can do data ingest to action in under 10 milliseconds, and we’re the only data platform that can do real-time decisioning this fast.
- In-Memory: Volt is built on an in-memory database that allows for scalability and simplicity.
- Relational: Volt is relational, which means we are 100% ACID compliant.
- Reliable: Our unique, patented triple-active cross data center replication (XDCR) ensures ‘five nines’ uptime.
Volt and Telco: Proving Volt’s “Mission-Critical” Value
As one telco leader put it: “Volt is the Fedex of the data world. It just works”.
Telco applications embody the idea of “mission-critical” because they can’t afford to be slow or unreliable. Volt is the hidden foundation of telco applications across the globe, ensuring people can make calls without interruptions or charges they shouldn’t be getting and mobile network providers get paid for their services.
Whether you’re looking to delight customers with the perfect upsell at the perfect moment, keep your manufacturing machinery running smoothly, ensure public safety at a busy intersection, or anything else that requires data speed, accuracy, precision, and reliability — all at once — you need a data platform like Volt.
